CSV to XLSX Converter

A comma-separated CSV becomes an Excel workbook: values land in cells and split into proper columns.

This CSV to XLSX converter builds an Excel workbook out of a plain text table: values land in cells, the file opens on a double click and is ready for sorting and formulas.

What happens when you convert CSV to XLSX

CSV is plain text: rows of values with a separator between them. It carries no data types, no column widths and no sheets, so every program reads such a file its own way. Hence the familiar picture: your colleague opened the table and got a single column.

XLSX stores a table that has already been parsed. After the conversion the data sits in cells, and the file opens the same way in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.

  • The comma is treated as the separator. A value containing a comma survives if it is quoted: "USB-C cable, 1 m".
  • An export that uses semicolons lands in a single column, so re-save such a file with commas first.
  • Text carries over as it was, non-Latin alphabets included.
  • Numbers become numbers, so a code with leading zeros (00123) turns into 123.
  • No formulas appear in the result: the CSV had none, only values move across. Styling and column widths are yours to set.
  • One CSV makes one sheet; extra tabs are added later in your editor.

Who needs CSV to XLSX

  • Take an export from your CRM or a bank statement and do the maths in Excel.
  • Send a report to a colleague whose CSV opens as one column.
  • Match a supplier price list against stock: sorting and filters work in a workbook.
  • Upload the table to a service that accepts XLSX only.
  • Archive an export so that a year from now it opens exactly as it does today.

FAQ

What if my file uses semicolons?

The rows will land in a single column. Excel saves CSV that way in several locales, so re-save the file with commas — "Save as" → "CSV (comma delimited)" — or replace the character in a text editor.

Are leading zeros in product codes kept?

No: 00123 arrives as the number 123. If the zeros matter, format that column as text in the finished workbook and re-enter the codes, or store them with a prefix.

Will formulas and formatting appear?

No. A CSV holds values only, so values are what moves into the XLSX. Formulas, colours and column widths are yours to add in Excel.
